Native Plant Workshop and Plant Sale

Come visit us at the Louis Robidoux Parkland and Pecan Grove (LRPPG) for a free workshop on native plants and our first annual plant sale!

About the Workshop:

The workshop is scheduled for 10 AM - 11 AM, and will be led by UCCE Master Gardeners from Riverside County.  Attendees will learn about the benefits of using native species in landscaping. Bring your questions for the Q and A portion of the workshop and a reusable bag to take home some LRPPG goodies and free nursery plants for those who register in advance.  If you’ve got one, don’t forget to bring your reusable water bottle to help make this a minimal-waste event! Park at the gravel parking lot at the entrance of the park and walk down to the former building site for the workshop, then stay for the plant sale set to start immediately right after. For more questions or to make arrangements for attendees with mobility issues, please contact LRPPG site specialist Lus Gomez: lgomez@iercd.org or 951-823-6522

About the Plant Sale:

  • The plant sale will follow the workshop from 11 AM - 1 PM.  Please note, you don’t need to attend the workshop to come to our sale!  Be sure to arrive at the start time if you have specific plants in mind, since we don’t know how long inventory will last and bring an electronic form of payment; no cash will be accepted. Sales begin at 11 AM, but early arrivals are welcome to participate in our native plants workshop or explore the site until then. Native plants will be available in a variety of sizes, ranging from 2-inch pots to 3-gallon containers, along with seed packets featuring a blend of locally sourced native seeds. We’ll have  native plant experts from UCCE Master Gardeners and IERCD on-hand to make sure you leave the workshop and plant sale with everything you need to make native plants a bigger part of your life!
    • Plant Sale Etiquette
      • Carts will be available for you to easily transport large purchases to your vehicle. Please return carts back to the plant sale loading zone after you have finished using them.
      • The entrance to the plant sale will be noted with signage, as well as the exit. Please respect posted signage to facilitate an easy check out process and decrease foot traffic.
      • During checkout all your purchased plants will be flagged and a digital receipt can be provided.
      • A loading zone will be available. If you have a very large plant purchase or/and have mobility issues, please pull up to the loading zone, past the gravel parking lot towards the caretakers unit. We ask that you be mindful of other community members and drive up slowly. A staff member can help you load your items quickly and efficiently. Afterwards follow the signage towards the exit.

Please note, we will have bilingual staff at the event able to translate as needed. For questions or to make arrangements for attendees with mobility issues, please contact bilingual LRPPG site specialist Lus Gomez: lgomez@iercd.org or 951-823-6522
